The Hardrock Z son Pasquino van de Hagenhorst was registered as a KWPN stallion last year to rave reviews. It was the first year the stallions received no grades at approval. Had that been the case, Pasquino would have earned a monster score. Jury chairman Wout Jan van der Schans spoke extremely complimentary of the dark brown stallion at the time:
“Pasquino van de Hagenhorst is a stallion with an excellent attitude and is very good to ride. In motion he shows great balance, his canter is characterized by space, power and stability. Remarkably, despite his age, he can already shorten, broaden and change easily. His jumping technique is impressive, with excellent front and rear leg technique, using his body well. Pasquino is careful, shows lots of print and athletic ability. As a jumper, he has a lot of talent and gives his rider a great feeling.”
That Pasquino is a natural should come as no surprise. His sire is the Heartbreaker son Hardrock Z, who competed at the highest level with Venezuelan rider Emanuel Andrade. Hardrock Z competed at the World Championships in Caen (2014) and the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro (2016). Hardrock Z’s dam, Carte Blanche Z (by Carthago), also produced the 1.60 m jumping Charlemagne JT Z. In Hardrock Z’s direct dam line we find three more horses at 1.60 m level and one at 1.55 m level.
On the dam’s side of Pasquino, we see the mare Happy Linda (by Eldorado van de Zeshoek) who was competed at the 1.55 level by Johnny Pals. Happy Linda is out of the same dam as the 1.60 m jumping, approved stallion Talan, who was ridden by Robert Smith, among others. The 1.50 horse Veni Vidi Vici and the 1.45 jumping Diego are also out of the same mare. Further down the dam line we see many high-level performing dressage horses, including the Grand Prix horse Witsche. This emphasizes the excellent rideability that is characteristic of this lineage and is also evident in Pasquino.
During the KWPN stallion competition, Pasquino achieved a handsome fourth place in the final results.
With his exceptional disposition, athletic ability and impressive pedigree, Pasquino van de Hagenhorst is a valuable addition to breeding. His qualities make him an ideal choice for breeders who want to invest in jumpers with talent, rideability and a solid genetic base.
